Successful Kick-Off for 1st Annual “Cut for Consciousness”

On May 4, 2003 between 1:00 p.m. and 5 p.m.  Warren Wilkes Salon, located at 2811 McKinney Ave., and Steven Maxx Salon, located at 15721 Coit @ Arapaho, hosted the 1st annual Pro-Salon.Com “Cut for Consciousness” at their respective locations. Cutting and styling services were provided by stylists at the salons and proceeds were donated to The Women’s Museum general education fund. In kind and cash donations totaling over $3500.00 made this a spectacular kick-off for this annual event.

To publicize the event materials were distributed to women’s groups, women’s shelters, churches, and other organizations throughout the Dallas Metro area. Local newspapers, radio and television provided excellent coverage prior to and on the day of the fundraiser.

The Women's Museum: An Institute for the Future is a Smithsonian Museum Affiliate, and the nation’s only comprehensive women’s museum.  Showcasing the accomplishments and achievements of American women, the museum's exhibits and programs make visible the unique, textured, and diverse stories of these women and their impact on shaping American history.  The Ronya Kozmetsky Institute for the Future offers hands-on educational programming via its 28-station computer lab.
